TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2004--Bombardier Aerospace (TSX:BBD.A) (TSX:BBD.B) announced today that Japan Air Commuter, the largest regional carrier in the Japan Airlines Group, has placed a firm order for four Bombardier Q400(i) high-speed aircraft. The transaction also includes an option for an additional Q400.
Japan Air Commuter now has firm orders for nine Bombardier Q400 aircraft. Japan Air Commuter, based in Kagoshima, Japan, operates 137 flights a day to 23 destinations.
'The Bombardier Q400 has excellent operating economics on our network of short routes and is environmentally sensitive to the communities it serves,' said Masayuki Abe, President, Japan Air Commuter. 'Equipped with the advanced technology Noise and Vibration (NVS) system, the Bombardier Q400 is providing our passengers with a modern cabin as comfortable as any regional jet.'
'Clear evidence of the Q400's profitability and strong passenger appeal is demonstrated in yet another operator placing a follow-on order,' said Steven A. Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. 'Experience has shown that the Bombardier Q400 has the lowest operating cost of any aircraft in short-haul markets.'
As of April 30th, 2004, the Bombardier Q400 firm order book stood at 108 aircraft, of which 80 had been delivered to 11 operators around the world.
